SIMPLE SEASONAL CITRUS & AVOCADO SALSA

This bright, vibrant salsa pairs the rich, creamy texture of Morro Creek Ranch Hass avocados with the zesty, sweet-tart flavor of winter citrus. It is a refreshing, simple, and versatile topping that elevates any grilled seafood or poultry dish.
Ingredients:
-
1 ripe Morro Creek Ranch Hass avocado, diced
-
1 large navel orange or 2 mandarins, peeled, segmented, and roughly chopped
-
1/4 small red onion, very finely diced
-
1-2 jalapeños, seeds removed and minced (adjust to your spice preference)
-
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
-
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
-
1 teaspoon honey or agave nectar (optional, to balance tartness)
-
1/2 teaspoon sea salt (or to taste)
-
Pinch of black pepper
Instructions:
-
Prepare Citrus: Using a sharp knife, peel the citrus and cut the segments away from the membrane, allowing any excess juice to drain. Rough chop the segments.
-
Combine Ingredients: In a medium bowl, gently combine the chopped citrus, diced avocado, diced red onion, minced jalapeño, and chopped cilantro.
-
Make the Dressing: In a small separate bowl, whisk together the lime juice, honey/agave (if using), sea salt, and black pepper.
-
Dress and Toss: Pour the dressing over the avocado and citrus mixture. Gently toss to combine, being careful not to mash the avocado or citrus segments.
-
Taste and Adjust: Taste the salsa and adjust seasonings as needed. You may want more salt or lime juice depending on the sweetness of your citrus.
-
Serve: Serve immediately with tortilla chips, or use as a colorful, fresh topping for grilled chicken, pork, or white fish tacos.
